'I want to put two hyphens between the words "Fish" and "And", and "And" and "Chips" in my Fish-And-Chips sign'.

    The context for this sentence is a school grammar test where the debated answer is either "had" or "had had".


    Jim, while John had had "had had", had had "had". "Had had" had had the teacher's approval.
