www.poetrycontest.com kept rejecting a poem I wanted to enter - turned out to be objecting to the word 'faggots'. Faggot is an old word that can mean a bunch of wood for kindling or some disgusting food item made from offal. It's only recently become slang for a homosexualist - and that wasn't the meaning I was using. By their logic you cannot submit a poem if it contains word such as fairy, queer, dyke, gay, etc. - they should leave the censorship for words like arsebandit and shirtlifter which are obviously intended to be derogatory and have no other meaning.

One site I tried to register with refused to let me use my surname - Cockerill. Needless to say, I refused to alter it and they lost my business
