Well if you owned a car and knew whats best for it you would know that the best weather to wash your car is in rain.

So why is this. Because you dont have to dry it over after you showered the soap off cause the rain dosnt have calc in it like water from the pipes does.

So hes no moron.

Well, I do own a car... but maybe I don't know "what's best for it", because I wouldn't wash it in the rain. Because as soon as I left the car wash it would get splattered with road crap from other vehicles on the way home. It just doesn't make sense to me to wash it in the rain.
Oh, and what is "calc"? (Maybe I'm the moron).

Thanks for commenting.

I've washed my car in the rain and it looked great when the rain stopped.

My theory was that it's better than washing it in the blazing hot sun so the soap doesn't dry up, and the cool out-of-the-sun surface can dry slowly for less spotting. I think a good pouring rain would really help to loosen up and wash a lot of dirt off an extremely dirty car for a good prewash and continue to wash off dirt while wiping for less abrasion. A little wet dirt after a pouring rain probably scratches less than all the dirt that's there at the start of a typical carwash.

Of course I washed it in my driveway, so there was no road crap to drive through.

That was 20 years ago. Today those things aren't important enough to me to even think of doing something like that in the rain.

As for the guy in the picture... He IS a moron because,

a) he drives a wagon with a spoiler and he's never going to impress anyone no matter how he washes his mom's car.

or

b) he forgot to wash his wife's car yesterday and is in deep doodoo.

or

c) he's removing the "you're a moron" graffiti from his rear window because he's a moron for other reasons.

Well my nativelanguage is not english but calc is a kind of limestone.

Your no moron and enjoy your site everyday.

Well thats the deal. Whenever we drive in rain the car gets dirty as it does in all weather.

One good reason though here were I live is the salt the spread on the roads whenever its just a bit cold.

Another reason is that its good for the protective layers on the car.

A car that has been cared for can be really fine for many many years.

The first guy was referring to calcium and other hard-water mineral deposits in the tap water used to normally wash a car. Rain water can be very pure, as long as it's been raining for an hour or so before hand to wash all the crap out of the sky and all the crap off the road. Acid rain could be a problem, though. In places with little smog, it can make sense to wash your car in the rain. You just let it get soaked for 10 minutes or so to act as a starting rinse and loosen dirt, drizzle on a little dish soap, then wipe it down with a wash cloth. The rain will rinse your car clean. It won't get dirty from road grime afterwards, because if the rain's been going for an hour or so all the road grime has been washed away. I've done this before, and it works out great. Instead of taking an hour to prep and wash the car, all it takes is about 10 minutes. Saves time, money and effort. Since (normal) rain water is so pure, it'll dry spotless. But, if you're paranoid, you can use spot-free car wash soap if you want. I've always used dish soap, since it's mild and faily biodegradeable. Once the rain stops, you just wax the puppy up and you're good to go.

Now, for the guy washing the car in the pic, he IS a moron, because he's using a hose to wash it off while it's pouring down rain. Sort of defeats the purpose.
