How to crack a combination lock

Very interesting stuff here.  A little long but still interesting.

It works. I had an old lock in the shed that I forgot the code to. Took me 10 minutes and it's now open.

There's an error in this video. He says the remainder will be 0, 1, 2 or 3.

Later, when you calculate the 2nd combination value, he has you add 1 if the remainder is 0 or 1 and subtract 2 if the remainder is 3 or 4.

Problem: If 4 can't be a remainder, why's it used in this other step and what happens if you get a remainder of 2?

Oh, and by the way, my combination lock uses 32, 6, 32 as the combination. I get 32 as the 3rd value using his steps but 32 isn't in the list of the 'first' combination value.

If I leave my remainder as 2 instead of adding/subracting a value, I get 6 in the list of possible 'second' combinations, so it's close, but my lock won't open if I use 30 or 34 as the 1st number.

I'll have to try it on another lock one day.
