Opening night

Well, the Cardinals lost and now have the worst record in all of baseball.   It’ll take at least two more games to change that.  It was a beautiful night for a ball game though.  The temperature was right at 70 degrees at game time and the sky was clear blue.

REO Speedwagon sang the National Anthem.  The Cardinals honored many of the past World Champion teams and players, including the likes of Red Schoendienst, Bruce Sutter, Bob Gibson, Lou Brock and Stan Musial.

One of the highlights from our perch in the first row behind the Cardinal bullpen was this weird fan who was fishing for baseballs in the bullpen before the game.  He had a styrofoam cup attached to a long rope which he lowered to the ground in hopes of snaring a ball.   He was unsuccessful this evening, but I hear that he’s gotten a few that way in the past.
