The pictures are of a man who works for the US Forest Service in
The bear was just over one thousand six hundred pounds It stood 12' 6" high at the shoulder, 14' to the top of his head while standing on all 4 legs. It's the largest grizzly bear ever recorded in the world.
Of course, the Alaska Fish and Wildlife Commission did not let him keep it as a trophy, but the bear will be stuffed and mounted, and placed on display at the
The US Forest Service, backtracking from where the bear had originated, found the hiker's 38-caliber pistol emptied. Not far from the pistol was the remains of the hiker. The other body has not been found.
Although the hiker fired six shots and managed to hit the grizzly with four shots (the Service ultimately found four 38 caliber slugs along with twelve 7 mm slugs inside the bear's dead body), it only wounded the bear and probably angered it immensely.
The bear killed the hiker an estimated two days prior to the bear's own death by the gun of the Forest Service worker.
Think about this: If you are an average size man; You would be level with the bear's navel when he stood upright. The bear would look you in the eye when it walked on all fours! To give additional perspective, consider that this particular bear, standing on its hind legs, could walk up to an average single story house and look over the roof, or walk up to a two story house and look in the bedroom windows.
Thanks Phyllis

Damn thats a hugeass bear!
Ron White (Comedy Central-Jeff Foxworthy) worked this bear story into his act at the Rialto Theater/Joliet Illinois on October 28, 2006. Although his telling was very close to these facts, his sense of humor made me wet myself.
Bob Spraker
this man killed chuck norris.
Google 14 foot grizzly bear and get a true story. 10.5 feet at the sholder and 1000 to 1200 pounds and no dead people. Remember this is the internet, which is worse than the lying porch.
thats not a bear. more like a bigfoot.
the pictures are accurate, but the story and details are incorrect. Here's the real deal: http://www.snopes.com/photos/animals/bearhunt.asp
HOW DID YOU GET THAT BIG SON OF A GUN OF THE WOODS
how the hell did they drag that big beast out of the woods
Thats a huge bitch
PEOPLE KILL PEOPLE BY THE THOUSAND'S EVERY DAY!...AT LEAST THE BEAR KILL'S TO EAT!...AND OF COURSE, THERE IS THE CHANCE THAT THE BEAR JUST GOT PISSED OFF THAT SOME BIG WHITE HUNTER PUT BULLETS INTO IT.IT WOULD BE A VERY TERRIFYING WAY TO GO OUT OF THIS WORLD! BUT WHAT AN HONOR!.MUCH MORE SO THAN TO BE KILLED BY ONE OF YOUR OWN.JUST THINK OF THE GREATNESS OF SUCH A TOTEM! THE BEAR IS MINE!AND LIKE OUR CHILDREN; WE CAN LEARN MUCH FROM THE ANIMALS TOO, IF WE WOULD ONLY SEEK THE KNOWLEDGE INSTEAD OF FEEDING OUR EGO'S AND IGNORANCE!
thts just the guy who found it tht bloody all over its face is from when i beat the shit out of it....he took it out of my house after i served it a nice meal of hiker and he came in and shot it....but ill get tht guy i swear
hey thats not cool i mean i'm glad the bear didn't kill anyone else but its the hunters that invaded their territory...
Is there a picture of the stuffed bear on display anywhere on the web???
That is amazing! I would not like to run into something like that when i was out camping. It can look into a two story house?!?!?! thats incredible!
Yes, whoever said 10.5 feet 1000-1200lbs is correct.
It's unusually large especially for Prince William Sound, where it was ACTUALLY killed.
The photo IS real but the bear was not a proven maneater. It was "happened upon" by a hunter and his partner.
The hunter was after deer but had a .338 magnum rifle in case of bear attack. He fired one shot in its brain (just under the eye) then 5 into the chest.
The bear MAY have been stalking them but did not display any agressive moves and did not charge, but it WAS moving toward them at the time he shot it.
But it did make a good urban legend.
Here's the TRUE story...
Still one HECK of read...
I'm the Anon who recently ported, just had to go get the link.

That thing is HUGE!
All you tree huggers out there need to leave us hunters alone. This guy was out minding his own business when a 14 foot bear charged him. What the hell would you do if you saw a bear as big as a 2 story building running at you? You couldn't out run the dadgum thing... what else are you going to do? Even if it was .38 and would only make it madder, its still a way of defending yourself and you aint got any other choice. I'm glad the forest ranger shot it... Lord knows how many people that thing coulda killed. And another plus, that leaves a lot of deer and elk for us good ol boys to eat... GIT-R-DONE
imagine seeing that shit looking into you window as you go to take another hit from the bong
u no what? u tree huggers back off! i'm a 13 yr old girl and i think hunting ROX!! go hunters! plus the bear is a MONSTER! bigfoot iis an UNDERSTATEMENT!
this makes me want to jerk off until my penis bleeds from the pee hole
THAT BEAR IS A MONSTER, WOULD NOT LIKE TO SEE THAT THING COMING AFTER ME!!!!
Wow that is one big bear!!
I wonder if it is photoshot???? I don't know if I believe it yet?
Anyways huge bear!!
The size seems a bit overblown -- seeing is believing I guess. Thanks to precous Knut I have become an avid bear fan. These magnificent creatures are considered as intelligent as the great apes by several current researchers and emotionally complex. They are absolutely gorgeous yet at the same time as adorable as a Steiff plush toy. I wish people would stay out of bear territory unless willing to sign releases exempting bears from responsibility in maulings. These hapless creatures generally are protecting their territory, especially if they have cubs. When starving, they do consume humans when possible, and once again, people should enter bear territory at their own risk and sign a release exempting the bears. I have put my art on WEBSHOTS (karenvstefanini) for bear protection fundraising. I advocate banning bile farms, bear dancing, harvest and trophy hunts and suggest hormone harvests be implemented as a kinder solution to bear overpopulation in rare instances where it actually occurs. These precious creatures need our respect and support.

I hate to break it to you, but you re-posted a chain mail hoax. Research it. The 2 photos included are from a 1,200 pound bear that was killed. It is well documented and has been featured in various places, including the history channel. The story about the 1,600 bear with human remains is a 100 percent fabrication. The human remains picture is totally unrelated and was tacked on to make the story more scary.
...."It stood 12' 6" high at the shoulder, 14' to the top of his head while standing on all 4 legs"....
How do you work out that it would look you in the eye when on all fours if its 14 foot to the top of its head on all fours?.is that if your standing on a ladder? or does it have to crouch down a few foot! And as for being level with its belly button while its standing on its back legs?!?...the maths dont add up to me here.
honestly, considering the state of our planet. i feel bad for the bear. i do feel bad for the people envolved, however,we do hunt them, perhaps they are simply learning to return the favor. we kill millions of animals every year. there homes and places to roam are shrinking rapidly. i know we as humans need to come first, and we have for a very long time. in short it is a shame that the bear could not be apreciated for what it was. think about it,if you will or if you wont, that bear and all the other amazing things are our true national treasures.if you dont agree, then i ask you, all of you... what are our national treasures, I-pods, laptops...of course not...our countrys grandure is and always has been the land, nature, etc.the bears life should be celebrated aswell...
respectfully yours,chris-bear ,pima nation,(yes,i am a @#&*ing native)-bless you all and the bears...
