Why are there 28 days in February?

070227_EX_calendarThe short answer – No one knows why.  But here’s an interesting theory that involves the Romans, Julius Caesar, Duma Pompilius, and the fact that months with even numbered days were unlucky.

I read through it and don’t really know much more now than I did before I read it.

well, for all i know caesar augustus (formerly known as gaius octavian, nephew to julius caesar and his inheritor)passed away during the month of sextilis, which was then named after the late caesar and became the month of august(us). they added one day, so the month would have 31 instead of 30 days. since then february has 28 days. february used to be the last month in the roman calender so it got all the leap days (some kind of tradition).
but i could be wrong... Oô
