Well.. I live in Ecuador... and this "rat" (named CUY, pronounce it like Q-E) is a common meal in the highlands...
I don't like it, but when I tried it it tasted like pork.. a spicy pork...
But if someone gives you a dish, with the meat ready-to-eat (when you buy a CUY, you buy the whole animal) and you don't know where it comes from, honestly, you'll eat it without problems...
Yes.. they are grilled.. and something "funny" about how they are gilled is... that... hum... just check the first picture and see that the CUY has a big piece of wood sticked on his ass.. on the 2nd picture they're trying to stick the piece of wood into another CUY...
