Father / daughter talk

This will probably stir up some shit…but I think it has some merit.  A smart daddy this guy is.

A young woman was about to finish her first year of college.   Like so many others her age, she considered herself to be a very liberal Democrat, and was very much in favor of 'the redistribution of wealth.'

She was deeply ashamed that her father was a rather staunch Republican, a feeling she openly expressed.   Based on the lectures that she had participated in, and the occasional chat with a professor, she felt that her father had for years harbored an evil, selfish desire to keep what he thought should be his.

One day she was challenging her father on his opposition to higher taxes on the rich and the addition of more government welfare programs.   The self-professed objectivity proclaimed by her professors had to be the truth and she indicated so to her father. He responded by asking how she was doing in school.

Taken aback, she answered rather haughtily that she had a 4.0 GPA, and let him know that it was tough to maintain, insisting that she was taking a very difficult course load and was constantly studying, which left her no time to go out and party like other people she knew.   She didn't even have time for a boyfriend, and didn't really have many college friends because she spent all her time studying.

Her father listened and then asked, 'How is your friend Audrey doing?'

She replied, 'Audrey is barely getting by.   All she takes are easy classes, she never studies, and she barely has a 2.0 GPA.   She is so popular on campus; college for her is a blast. She's always invited to all the parties, and lots of times she doesn't even show up for classes because she's too hung over.'

Her wise father asked his daughter, 'Why don't you go to the Dean's office and ask him to deduct a 1.0 off your GPA and give it to your friend who only has a 2.0.   That way you will both have a 3.0 GPA and certainly that would be a fair and equal distribution of GPA.'

The daughter, visibly shocked by her father's suggestion, angrily fired back, 'That wouldn't be fair!   I have worked really hard for my grades! I've invested a lot of time, and a lot of hard work!   Audrey has done next to nothing toward her degree.  She played while I worked my tail off!'

The father slowly smiled, winked and said gently, 'Welcome to the Republican Party.'

Thanks Ronnie

I think this post was genius. So many times we don't think about what we REALLY believe in, so we end up saying we're this or that when in actuality, we don't even know what it means to be this or that.

I think this is a perfect, stupid fucking example of a Republican joke. Since the elements have nothing to do with one another, and the "point" it makes is inane and unfunny, naturally Repugnicans would love it to death.

Take the idiot above as an example.

Some people have no sense of humor and take life WAY to serious. They need to lighten up and enjoy.

Take the idiot above as an example.

the more i learn about politics the more i realize democratic beliefs are like addictions. you fall into them because someone made them sound wonderful or maybe you were looking to rebel against someone or thing. as a result you slip into a dark and unproductive life of unrealistic ideals and pipe dreams. And all the while you are consumed by a mistaken belief that you and your like are saving the world which blinds you from the truth. don't get me wrong, democrats probably have some purpose. i'm just not sure what yet.

Well if world was so simple it would be great.

But unfortunately life dos not depends on hard work and honesty. That is only a small part and only works for very few of us.

A good life depends on luck, what skill you parents had, did they have money for medical care, schools and a lot more where only luck decides. Actuelly its way to big to even describe half fair in a comment.

So just a joke and not even a funny one.

Well, this is what the Repubs would like you to think... But before you believe it, spend a few days with piss-poor people. You'll find many work very hard for little if anything, and that's the way things are, while there are some wealthy people who were simply born that way.

it was genius and true along with well written. life is about paths, and what path you take, and it doesn't matter what path you take things in any walk of life are not fair... choices... it's what America is all about.

Funny Joke by the way

It is amazing how many people let someone else do their thinking for them. I'm neither Democratic or Republican, but I do tend to vote and agree with more Democratic positions than Republican positions on issues. Does that make me a Democratic, hell no, just an independant thinker.

I cannot tell if all you posters that claim you're Democratic or Republican reached that decision based on independant analysis and decision, or if you're sheep following someone else. I can only hope....

There is no such thing as luck. You have to make your luck and God will bless you! The poor have have the same chances to increase their place in life. Yes, they may have to work at it a bit harder, but it seems that many economically challenged choose not to do what it takes to get ahead. True some wealthy people were born into it. But guess what... Most don't stay there very long if they don't apply some knowledge to there wealth. I agree we should help the poor, but if you give a man fish you feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish and you'll feed him for life. This is the point... Many of the poor just want the fish.

You're all completely idiots to actually think that you are a democrat or republican. The truth is that the United State general public does not decide our elections anymore. Our media, as well as a few million dollars from the top percentage of our population, decide who will be in charge for the next four years. So before you throw a hissy because someone made fun of your political party, take a second and actually think about what being part of a political party means to you.

Absolutely nothing.

I'm a Mexican! My name is Jose. Me and my wife just hopped the border. She's gonna pop out a kid in a few days. When it comes out, it's automaticaly a US citizen. We're gonna want a birth certificate, welfare, food stamps, WIC. You know... all the benefits you stupid Americans are forced to pay in taxes and than never see again! We'll probably work on a farm picking lettuce for 5 cents an hour well our kid goes to school and gets everything for free. And it's all thanks to you

My point... FUCK YOU, you liberal sons a bitches! A good republican would build a 50 foot tall fence and declare open season on all illegal immigrants!

It's interesting, because my dad and I had this EXACT conversation today, except I knew what kind of trap he was trying to set me up in, so I ended up owning him.

Its funny to me that anyone thinks this is an actual argument against progressive taxation. The difference between grades and taxes is everyone starts at the same place and has to do the same amount of work to get the good grades. As soon as this is the case in the real world, I will call for an end to progressive taxation.

And for everyone who thought this was clever: get a brain.

That joke is bullshit. People think the Democrats are "for the working man." That's bullshit.

The dems are all ABOUT spending every dollar hard working people pay in thier taxes for all kinds of bullshit.

Once we are done giving away all of our cahs the people around the world that hate our guts, they will find some other way to piss it away.

Let me keep my MONEY and spend it the way I want to.
